When Revival Begins. In this episode, we explore the powerful revival in Judah under King Hezekiah. After years of spiritual decline, Hezekiah reopened and purified the temple, restored proper worship, and called the people to celebrate Passover. His wholehearted devotion sparked a spiritual awakening that transformed the nation. The story reminds us that true revival begins when we hunger and thirst for God, removing anything that hinders our relationship with Him, and letting our personal passion for God influence others.

What Happens in Your Brain When You Write by Hand

Aug 05 2026
Your Brain Remembers More When You Write by Hand As a neuropsychologist, I find it fascinating that something as simple as putting pen to paper can have such a profound impact on the brain. Brain imaging studies consistently show that handwriting activates areas responsible for memory, learning, and movement in ways that typing simply does not. And as we age, that distinction becomes increasingly important. A 2026 review in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience mapped how handwriting engages a beautifully complex network across the brain, regions working together in synchrony to strengthen deeper processing, learning, and memory. In contrast, typing recruits far fewer of these systems. Research from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology also found that students demonstrated stronger brain connectivity when writing words by hand compared to typing them. Why? Because handwriting engages more neural pathways, which strengthens learning and memory retention. Even more encouraging, writing-based practices like journaling and handwriting exercises have been shown to support both cognitive and emotional health, even for those experiencing mild cognitive impairment or dementia. So let’s bring this out of the research lab and into everyday life. Every time you write a prayer, a note, a journal entry, or even a grocery list by hand, you are reinforcing memory pathways, engaging fine motor coordination, and supporting cognitive resilience. Friend, this isn’t nostalgia for the “good old days.” This is neuroscience.

Renewing your mind starts with recognizing the thoughts you’ve been agreeing with. Negative thinking often feels true in the moment, but many of those thoughts are rooted in lies the enemy has repeated long enough for us to believe them. God’s Word gives us something better to hold onto, truth that steadies our thoughts and reshapes what we believe over time. As you read through these, pay attention to the ones that resonate most. Those are often the areas where God wants to bring the most healing and freedom.
