Finding a young person interested in exploring their family's ancestry is often a rare treat in today's selfie culture. Rachel Rifkin is one of those rare gems.

At 27-years-old, Rachel's grandfather had served as a medic in the Korean War. One day, while helping clean out her grandparent's house, Rachel stumbled upon those letters. Reading her grandfather's thoughts connected Rachel to him in a deeply profound way. The experience inspired her to use her God-given talent of writing to start her blog,
Family Resemblance.

As Rachel continued to dig into her family ancestry, she came across a photo of her maternal great-grandmother, Fannie, from what she estimates to be some time between 1915 and 1920.

"In it, she’s young and beautiful, with a slight smirk on her face. In a time when most people looked stoic in pictures, she’s serving up the sass," Rachel writes.
And that's when the imaginative young lady decided to do something incredible to honor her family tree. And what she did is a stroke of creative genius!
