"She asked me, 'If I could get you a ticket would you go?' And I said, 'Oh my goodness I don't even know you!'" Ellis recalls. "She said, 'No. I believe you and I were fated to meet and I'm going to try to make this happen.'"The two traded contact information, and Liz set up a GoFundMe page for Ellis the very next day. It was going to take $7,500 to get the Uber driver to Rio. And boy did God provide! Donations rolled in and hit the goal in only two days! The most humbling part was that, of the the 150 people who donated, Ellis only knew about 10 of them. The rest of the money came from complete strangers who just wanted to help out of the kindness of their own hearts! "I was ecstatic," Ellis said. "I feel really grateful and overcome by the knowledge that there are good people out there."Father and son hadn't seen each other for months because of Darrell's rigorous training. So, it meant to the world to Ellis to get to be with him at the Olympics to "encourage him in person and let him know I'm 100 percent in his corner." "Liz was only a stranger for 5 minutes," he said. "We talk all the time now and I know we're going to be friends for a long time."It's stories like these that remind us there are still good people in this world. And God has a way of bringing the right people together at just the right time! "No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us." 1 John 4:12 [rsnippet id="2"]
