VBS Youth mission
This was a VBS youth mission. Comprised of some 40 youth and adults from Hopewell Baptist church Gainesville, GA. The target group were refugee children new to the USA. There families were from all over Europe and Asia. As far south as Ethiopia and as far north as the ex-Soviet Union.
The camp was held on the campus of Clarkston international bible church Clarkston, GA. A 125-year-old Baptist Church, just 11 miles east of Atlanta, Georgia! People groups from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, all lived within a one-mile radius.
The people of CIBC had already organized themselves, committing their future and ministry to reaching these people groups with the old, old story of Jesus and His love! Fantastic!
Our point of contact to the area was Friends of refugees. Who worked full time in the area with the refugee community.
The highlight of the week was the block party in a local apartment complex. There, we were able to make personal contact with the parents and other adults. Most came, looked, and left unchanged. However some were very different when they went home. It was very clear god had touched there hearts. It was humbling to realize as I looked around that nothing we did made the difference. Only what god did, how he spoke to them, this made the difference.
And god allowed us to be apart of his work, that’s cool!

Anxiety is one of those things that God turns to good as He reveals areas we need to work through and shows us how to draw closer to him.
