Should a Wife Have a Career to Support her Husband (in Ministry)

This addresses the question of whether a wife should pursue a career to help support her husband, in this case as he pursues a job in ministry. It was originally a letter to a friend of mine, based on a previous discussion, but I think it covers the topic broadly enough to post it here. I approach the question from a variety of angles, which I believe show supporting a husband to be a weak excuse for careerism.

While we might be able to imagine some good to come from abandoning the path that God gives us, the Church has lost a priceless treasure by abandoning the wife’s role as homemaker. It is plain disobedience as well. We need brethren who will obey God on this, and pastors who will preach it.
