FedEx Driver Goes Above And Beyond For Young Boy With Autism

If you need to see just how great humans can be, look no further than this story. It will put a smile on your face and a pep in your step because this FedEx driver goes above and beyond for a young boy with Autism.
Ryan Avila is a seven-year-old boy on the spectrum and his favorite thing? Trucks. All kinds of trucks. If it has wheels, he is all over it. He loves buses, bank trucks, dump trucks, semi-trucks, and especially delivery trucks!
On Easter morning, his mom got him a very special truck—a FedEx truck and Ryan was just over the moon. Later that morning, their delivery driver George Thomas pulled into the driveaway. He had another package to deliver, and he had no idea he was about to make Ryan’s day. While Ryan was enamored with his new truck, his grandmother announced the FedEx truck was outside and Ryan was so excited he rushed outdoors while he was still in his pajamas.
When Ryan’s mom explained that he loves trucks and he had just gotten a FedEx truck for Easter, George didn’t hesitate to bring Ryan more joy. George encouraged Ryan to go inside the truck and explore! During the visit, George learned just how special of a kid Ryan is as his mom explained that he was on the Autism Spectrum.
But what touched George’s heart is how Ryan looked up to him like he was a superhero. After all, George got to drive a truck and not just any truck—he got to drive a FedEx truck. The next day George returned with a surprise. He brought Ryan more gifts from the FedEx company—a soccer ball, a shirt, and even a hat! The look on Ryan’s face was priceless. It was a look of pure joy, happiness, and admiration!
Can we all just take a moment to thank God for George’s heart that is so full of grace, kindness, and love? He is so much more than a delivery driver—he delivers compassion and grace!
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,” Galatians 5:22
