Barbershop Quartet Performs Frank Sinatra Classic 'Come Fly With Me'

Listen as this barbershop quartet performs Frank Sinatra classic, ‘Come Fly With Me.’

Frank Sinatra songs ALWAYS sound incredible when performed by a barbershop quartet. ‘Come Fly With Me’ is no exception -- it’s perfection.

This restored footage is from the Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2004 International Convention. The competition took place in Louisville, Kentucky that year.

A user commented that the group, Realtime, came in seventh. It’s hard to imagine a performance better than this! These quartets are extremely talented!

Realtime members included John Newell, Mark Metzger, Tom Metzger, and Tim Broersma. The quartet ended up winning first in the 2005 international competition -- no surprise there!

The Barbershop Harmony Society has over 150,000 subscribers on Youtube and aims to support all-things barbershop. That means the group supports educators, students, and barbershop preservation. The organization posts restored historical footage of different groups every week as a part of its “Way Back When-sday” series.

Barbershop quartet performances aren’t exactly ‘showy,’ but they’re always so much fun to watch! Realtime is dressed in all black and white clothing, particularly on the baggier side. One of the members is even holding a cocktail glass to fit the theme of the song!

Frank Sinatra’s ‘Come Fly With Me’ was originally released in 1958. The catchy tune was written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn and was so catchy that a handful of future artists would record their own versions.

The recent and popular cover recorded by the lovable Michael Bublé has to be the next best thing to the original. He has a deep, smooth voice just like Sinatra. Although, these quartets sure do give Sinatra a run for his money!

The singers’ outstanding talent both individually and as a group created an outstanding rendition of a timeless classic. Way to go, Realtime!
