Little Girl Joins Her Twin Sisters For Jaw-Dropping Irish Dance
This young girl has no problem keeping up with her older sisters when it comes to Irish dancing. It’s incredible that she’s able to do every move just as flawlessly as the older girls no matter how difficult!
Although the origins of Irish dancing can be traced back hundreds of years, the dancing we recognize took off in the 19th century. At the beginning of the 1900s, some organizations standardized specific styles of Irish dance and eventually created competitions.
The Broadway show, Riverdance, made Irish stepdance popular in the mid-1990s. The girls in the clip are Irish step dancing. The movement probably looks familiar to most people. The stillness of the top half of the body paired with the fancy footwork makes these dances super impressive.
Look how fast their feet move and how effortlessly they lift themselves off of the ground! Most of us would probably fall flat on our faces if we attempted anything like that. Honestly, it looks dangerous — definitely a lot of sprained ankles!
These sisters obviously wore some coordinating sweaters to record their routine, and they look adorable! Classic costumes for Irish step dancing include the special shoes, dresses embroidered with a Celtic design, and super curly hair. Some girls even wear wigs or hairpieces to get the bouncy curls!
The boys normally wear certain pants with a shirt and vest. Both types have become more detailed over time but are meant to somewhat resemble classic Irish peasant wear.
I can’t stop watching this video — their feet just move too fast! Way to go, girls!
See, children are a heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. Psalm 127:3-5
