Dukes Of Hazzard's John Schneider Warns Of Social Media Bullying With 'Switched'

Listen to what John Schneider from the Dukes of Hazzard warns about social media bullying when he talks about his new movie ‘Switched.’

John Schneider got famous when he played Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, but you may also know him from his roles on hit shows like Desperate Housewives, Smallville, and currently on The Haves and The Have Nots. He has also had four #1 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Charts.

In his most recent role, John plays a dad of a social media influencer in the movie ‘Switched.’ And the movie spends time highlighting the importance of discussing teen bullying and encouraging self-acceptance.

John has shared publicly how he was bullied as a kid in elementary and middle school, so he says that that is part of the reason why he wanted to be involved with this movie. The message that it shares is so important.

The actor goes on to talk about how the impact of bullying is much more substantial now, with people being able to record anything they want and share it on the internet.

“When I was bullied in school,” he shares, “if something awful happened to you in homeroom or at the cafeteria, the only people who were aware of it were the people who were in the room. Now, there are hundreds of these things,” John says as he picks up his phone. “So, people have the opportunity to be globally humiliated now.”

This message serves as a reminder to share with our kids the importance of kindness and empathy. If they see someone bullying someone else, teach them to be the ones to step in and help bring it to a stop. May we all seek out ways to foster kindness and compassion in all of our lives!
