Doorbell Camera Captures Teen's Act Of Kindness For Bullied Friend

This beautiful video just goes to show how one act of kindness can inspire hundreds more. God calls us all to love each other as ourselves whether we are three or 103. A doorbell camera captures a teen’s act of kindness for a bullied friend, it’s nothing short of love in action.

Tanner Hendrix is a young boy in high school who is just a little different. Typically his small community keeps an eye out for him to ensure he is being treated like everyone else. But one day when Tanner was getting ready for gym class, he couldn’t find his gym shoes. He looked everywhere and found them in the strangest place. Someone had taken his gym shoes and had thrown them in the toilet. It was a cruel and brutal moment for Tanner.

Tanner told his parents when he got home from school and he was sad. As for his parents, it broke his mother’s heart. His mother Meghan said she also felt helpless. “As a mom, you want to protect your child, you want to help your child. When something’s wrong you want to step in and there wasn’t anything I could do,” she said when she learned her child had been a victim of bullying at school.

Later that week Tanner’s family had an unexpected visitor at the door. It was a senior named Skyler who’s always had Tanner’s back. In fact, Tanner calls Skyler his best friend. But he didn’t show up empty-handed. Skyler had something in his hands and the doorbell camera captured it all on video. This act of kindness will make you believe in the miracle of friendship.

When Tanner and his dad answered the door, Skyler had a pair of brand new gym shoes for his buddy Tanner. He told Tanner’s dad that he had heard what happened and wanted to give him a new pair of shoes. His dad was shocked, “Wow! Are you sure?” Skyler replied he was sure and said sometimes kids can be mean.

Unsure of what to do or say, Meghan took to Facebook to tell others about what had happened and posted the video capturing this beautiful act of friendship. She said she was in complete awe and she would be forever grateful to Sklyer reminding everyone what it means to be a good person.

She didn’t expect her post to go viral. But a moment like this reminds us how God meant for us to live in community with one another. Tanner and his family were encouraged and filled with hope after initially being left heartbroken. Be encouraged that you too will receive God’s help in your time of need or that God may use you in the right place at the right time to help out another!

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:8-10
