Time Lapse Captures Rare Plant Blooming

Stop and take a moment to appreciate the spectacular moment of the Brahma Kamal flower in bloom-- an occurrence that happens only once a year. In this video, a time lapse captures a rare plant blooming.

Ragini Ramchandani captured the Brahma Kamal on film when it bloomed in her house in Dorset, Somerset, England. She was given the ability to plant her own when her great aunt in Mangalore, India gave her a piece of the plant to start. At the beginning of the video you see the intricate white flower begin to move and twist, opening up by the evening into full bloom. Each layer of the plant then folds up back into its enclosed shape. It really is breath-taking.

At first glance, you might think this is a nice video of a flower, but when you learn more about the rarity to see this flower bloom, it creates a newfound appreciation for this video clip. Shivangi Karn from Bold Sky shares, “Brahma Kamal or Brahma Kamalam is an endemic and rare flowering plant species that is mainly found in the Indian Himalayan regions. The flower is also known as the 'king of Himalayan flowers'. It resembles a star and is pure white but the smell is not delightful.”

The Bible reminds us that God takes care of the flowers, so how much more will he take care of us? We have such a strong hope that we are in the Father’s hands. May this video be a reminder that we do not need to worry because we are taken care of by our loving God.

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? Consider how the lilies of the field grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" Matthew 6:27-30
