John Crist Pokes Fun at Millennial 'Hipster' Behaviors

Teaming up with his fellow comedian pal, Dustin Nickerson, John Crist is back with a comedic jab at the millennial ‘Hipster’ behavior. As Crist always reminds his fans, he’s not maliciously pointing fingers at others but instead pointing out behavior that he knows from personal experience.

Most would agree that Portland, Oregon is the undisputed mecca for the modern day Hipster. Ask a 20-something Portland local and they will likely declare their “hipster” badge with pride. Dressed in their best ‘hipster’ outfits, complete with a $72 dollar hat from the “vintage thrift store”, this comedic duo acts out the silly stereotypes as they wander through the city of Portland. Crist pokes fun at the hipster disgust over the use of plastic straws as he knocks a straw-sporting cup out of a passerbys hand “Remember the turtles, man!” The pair hilariously shares their disdain for certain bookstores because they’ve become “too popular”. While standing next to a bike lane, Crist and Nickerson applaud the bike riders who clearly are saving the planet with a lessened carbon footprint. When asked if he still drinks coffee, Crist replies: “I don’t drink coffee anymore, I just go to the roaster and suckle the beans.” Yes, even socially paramount topics from fair trade, deforestation, and “the evils of corporate America” are tackled with sarcasm.

We all have things about each other that drive us crazy. The ability to laugh at ourselves and see some of the absurdities in our own daily behaviors is a great way to grow and truly is therapeutic. Crist may have hit the nail on the head with these millennial hipster clichés but it was all in good fun. Know a hipster in your life? Feel free to pass along… unless online sarcasm is too mainstream for you!
