Baby Rhino Doesn't Want To Go Inside And Playfully Evades His Keepers

It’s always neat to see God’s creatures, specifically wild animals enjoying life and their surroundings. When it’s time for this baby rhino to go inside, he stalls with playful cuteness. We get to watch not one but two minutes of this greater one-horned rhino calf playfully romp around his pen. The energetic 4 month old calf’s name is Akeno and he just loves kicking up the dirt while charging around his play space.
After a long day playing outside with his Momma, it’s time for zookeepers to transfer them both back inside so the Daddy rhino can come out and enjoy the bigger enclosure. Little Akeno shows his refusal by darting around in circles and ducking behind trees. At one point he even playfully tags Momma rhino on the side as if to say, “come play with me!” As baby Akeno continues his jubilant dashing so rigorously that he even kicks up enough dust to send brown clouds towards onlookers. We hope Daddy is a patient rhino as it does not look like he’ll get to his regular outing on time.
Looking below the surface this big little creature can teach some of us a few lessons on life. First, enjoy our surroundings and what we do have. Counting our blessings is heard often but actually doing it is so beneficial. Second, learn to make the most of your time. Just like Akeno he took advantage of the time he had and certainly made the most of it. Third, play hard and find joy even in the little things. We hope little Akeno thrives and continues his infectious joy for years to come!
