First Blind Contestant Dazzles On Dancing With The Stars

Dancing can be a lot of fun, but professional dancing can also take a lot of hard work. For Paralympic athlete, Danelle Umstead, dancing is even more of a challenge than for more. Danelle has no central or peripheral vision and she was also diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. But that hasn’t stopped this inspiring woman from following her dreams and reaching for the gold. And now, this 46-year-old alpine skier is the first-ever blind contestant on the hit show Dancing With The Stars.

Danelle has been dreaming of this moment for a long time and her debut performance was everything that she hoped it would be. Just watch as Danelle beautifully performs a special foxtrot to ‘Rise Up’ from Andra Day with her partner Artem Chigvintsev. Her emotional number struck a chord with everyone watching. Even the judges were in awe of her skill and technique for the very first dance.

It takes a lot of hard work and practice for any celebrity to perform on this stage, but Danelle is determined to put in all the hours so she’s seen as a real competitor and not just someone with a disability. I think if this first performance is any indicator, we will be seeing a lot more of Danelle this season on Dancing With The Stars.

It’s so inspiring to see her follow her passion no matter what. What a remarkable woman with an even more remarkable story. Who else is going to be cheering for Danelle Umstead and Artem this season?
