'Mary Did You Know' From Mark Lowry And Brother - Inspirational Videos

The modern classic ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ is one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time. But this powerful song took over 7 years to perfect. The idea for the song came to Mark Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell in the early 80s. He started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him and how she must have felt. That’s when he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we know and love today.

In 1991, once the lyrics were complete, Mark asked his good friend Buddy Greene to write music to accompany his words. It only took 30 minutes for Buddy to compose the iconic music for ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ Today, Mark is joined by his brother, Mike, for a special stripped down rendition of this famous song.
