13-Year-Old's 'You Raise Me Up' Audition

We first met Jeffrey Li from Toronto, Canada when he was performing on stage with his friend, Celine Tam. Together, these two talented voices sang an unforgettable rendition of Josh Groban’s ‘You Raise Me Up.' The performance went viral it’s been viewed millions of times over.

Now, Jeffrey is a teenager and he’s hoping to capture the hearts of the world again. Today, this 13-year-old is stepping onto the America’s Got Talent stage and he’s auditioning with the song that got him started in the first place. But before he started singing, Jeffrey had a very interesting conversation with the judges. He told them that he was an only child and if he won the million-dollar prize, the one thing that he’d really like would be a dog.

That’s when Simon chimed in and told him, ‘If you do well I’m going to buy you a dog.’ This definitely helped to calm Jeffrey’s nerves and he was ready to give the performance of his life. Just watch as he confidently steps up to the microphone and starts to belt out ‘You Raise Me Up.’ It’s truly an audition like no other and within seconds he had the crowd cheering and people standing on their feet.

Jeffrey has an incredible voice and this song was the perfect fit to compliment his vocal skills. He easily earned a ‘yes’ from all 4 judges and now only time will tell if Simon makes good on his promise to give this young man a dog. What did you think of this audition?
