Simon Stops Classical Singer And Gives Him New Challenge
25-year-old Daniel Emmet is a Rochester, NY native looking to make it big time. This aspiring singer has been performing in Las Vegas, but he’s hoping to reach a larger audience when he auditions for America’s Got Talent.
Daniel came out on stage with an original song of his own that he hoped would impress the judges. He explained his style of performing as classical crossover and he’s ready to give this audition his all. But just a few verses into his song, Simon halts the entire performance. Even though the crowd was cheering for Daniel, judge Simon wanted to know if he had another song to perform.
That’s when Daniel informed him that he only came prepared with his original number. “Just singing that song, that’s not enough,” Simon said. Just when Daniel thought all hope might be lost, the notoriously hard judge gave him a rare opportunity that I’ve never heard of before. He asked Daniel if he would be willing to learn a completely new song and come back in 1 hour for a second audition.
Daniel accepted the challenge and spent the next 60 minutes learning the lyrics and melody to a song he knew nothing about. The song was Il Divo’s “Passera” and it required Daniel to sing in Italian. But when he returns to the stage for a second chance, the audience was on their feet within seconds.
Simon was exactly right about this special singer and Daniel truly has a talented voice when paired with the right tune. The judges all voted him on to the next round and now Daniel will really have to bring his ‘A’ game for the next performance.

A Prayer to Humbly Serve This Maundy Thursday - Your Daily Prayer - March 28
Would you let Jesus wash your feet? Isn't it hard to imagine lifting our dirty toes to the King of Kings? None of us are worthy of his care and attention; yet in Christ's perfect love, he gives us nothing less. Does your human heart struggle like mine to serve others humbly as Jesus did?
