Leave It To Beaver Actors Reflect On Show's 60th Anniversary

Check out actors Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow from ‘Leave It To Beaver’ reflect about their time on the sitcom.

Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, who played Beaver and Wally on ‘Leave It To Beaver’ sat down with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford of The Today Show to reminisce about their time on the beloved show.

At the start of the segment, Hoda and Kathie welcome Jerry and Tony through a front door and hand them a packed lunch. This part of the interview was also filmed in black and white to be reminiscent of how ‘Leave It To Beaver’ looked when it aired on television.

The show premiered on October 4, 1957 and ran for six seasons. And it has lived on in television reruns ever since. In fact, ‘Leave It To Beaver’ is the longest running show in television history.

Jerry Mathers, who played the Beaver, had no idea that the show was going to be such a hit.

“Every season we would think that we might not come back,” he shared.

Later in the video, Jerry and Tony talked about how they both hit it off with each other as soon as they started filming for the show. They also shared about the TV parents.

“It's so heartwarming to know that Tony and Jerry are close! They had a wonderful bond on the show as the show was really about the two of them as brothers,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the interview.

“I love those guys! The show was the best and still is to this very day. God bless Wally & Beave,” writes another person online.
