Children's Choir Sings 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross'

In this beautiful video, the Fountainview Academy Children’s Choir sings the hymn 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' while they are in Kauai, Hawaii.

“When I survey the wondrous cross, on which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to His blood.”

What an incredible performance! The video starts off with an orchestra playing the lovely melody in front of a stunning view. Then the soloist starts singing the first verse, and her voice is so beautiful. The next verse is sung by four young men. Their voices blend together so well, and their harmonies are wonderful. By the end of the video, all of the singers are singing together, and with the large orchestra playing beside them, the song sounds magnificent!

“Absolutely stunning,” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “And so refreshing to see young people doing such a fine job preserving hymns, in such a beautiful manner.”

“It’s amazing to watch this beautiful video and the lovely background of God’s beautiful nature,” writes another person on YouTube.

The hymn ‘When I Survey the Wondrous Cross’ was written by Isaac Watts and published in Hymns and Spiritual Songs in 1707. It is significant for being an innovative departure from the early English hymn style of only using paraphrased biblical texts.

We hoped you enjoyed this rendition of 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' by the choir at Fountainview Academy, and we hope the video was able to uplift your spirits today!

Hebrews 12:2
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God
