'Carolina In My Mind' The Petersens Family Bluegrass Band Performance

Enjoy this incredible performance of ‘Carolina In My Mind’ from family bluegrass band, The Petersens.

This nostalgic song was written and recorded by Grammy award-winning artist James Taylor. This beloved tune was featured on his 1968 self-titled debut album.

At the time that he wrote the song, James was overseas recording music. He started to feel very homesick and the words of ‘Carolina In My Mind’ were born.

“In my mind I'm gone to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine?
Can't you just feel the moonshine?
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind?
Yes, I'm gone to Carolina in my mind”

The Petersens are a family band from Branson, Missouri. This bluegrass ensemble has traveled all around the world sharing their musical talents, but you can normally find them at home in Branson.

For ten seasons, The Petersens have performed at the Little Opry Theatre in the Branson IMAX Entertainment Complex. Today, they’re putting their own spin on ‘Carolina In My Mind’ with this touching performance.

“Gone to Carolina in my mind
Gone, I'm gone, I'm gone
Say nice things about me 'cause I'm gone South now
Carry on without me, I'm gone”

‘Carolina In My Mind’ because a signature song for James Taylor. Now, it is so incredible to watch the younger generation continue to honor this timeless classic. And hearing a bluegrass rendition was exactly what my heart needed to hear today.

Who else was singing along to this throwback tune?
