Whale Saves Unsuspecting Diver From Approaching Tiger Shark

A diver was in deep trouble and didn’t know it until a whale saved the diver from a dangerous Tiger Shark.

Nan Houser is a whale biologist who spends a lot of her time researching whales in their natural habitat. Because the whale's natural habitat is the ocean, that means there are more creatures that pose a large threat to Nan during her research.

One day Nan was snorkeling in the ocean with her water proof camera, when out of nowhere a giant whale swam around her. The whale refused to leave her alone in the water Nan didn’t really know what to think at the time.

The whale had started to push Nan and came at her non stop, but it wasn’t really a threat in any way. The whale was very gentle with Nan, and it almost seemed playful.

She tried to get away, but the whale followed. As it turns out, the whale knew something that Nan didn’t. A tiger shark was lurking nearby.

“He put his eye up next to my eye, so I was like, what is going on here?!” she said.

The whale then had started to push Nan through the water, and rolled her on its head and under its chin--the whale just wouldn’t stop. The whale then lifted her out of the water with its peck fin.

That’s when Nan finally figured out why the whale was doing. Nan came up from the water, and told her colleagues on the boat, “there’s a great big tiger shark over there.”

She was in shock because she had only then realized that the whale protected her.

The whale followed Nan to the boat to assure her safety. Nan started to laugh as the whale surfaced, and blew water into the air.

The whale biologist has had quite a few encounters with whales over 28 years as a research scientist. But no encounter has ever been quite like this one.

Nan was in the right place at the right time to meet the big whale, that just happened to save her life as well. This will be an experience that she will remember for the rest of her life.

Nan has spent most of her career saving whales. On this day, one whale was able to return the favor.
