'Thankful' Daddy Daughter Duet From Mat And Savanna Shaw

Move over Josh Groban—the Shaws may have done it again. The daddy-daughter duet, Mat and Savanna Shaw performed his song, ‘Thankful’, and it is stunning. Accompanied by pianist Stephen Nelson, the song really hits home what this coming season is truly about, a chance to be thankful for the good in our lives. A chance to be thankful we have a good, mighty God.

The pair have been singing together only a few months. In fact, they rose to fame by accident during quarantine. Savanna, eager to keep in touch with her music friends, started a music social media account. Normally a shy and private teenager, she was nervous to sing her first song by herself, so she asked her dad to join her in singing, “The Prayer.” The video went viral and they’ve been releasing good, wholesome, uplifting music ever since. They’ve quickly garnered over half a million YouTube subscribers.

Because they know they have so many listeners, and they know just how hard 2020 has been on the world, the duo released the song, ‘Thankful’ with this message, “We are so happy to be sharing this music video with you! Not only is it a song from our upcoming Christmas album, but it is also a perfect message for this time of year.”

“As fall comes to an end, our thoughts often reflect upon the year that is drawing to a close. For many it is a time of reflection and thanksgiving. While this year has brought many of us difficulties, as we practice gratitude, we all can discover that there is still so much to be thankful for.”

They added, “Consider sharing this song along with something you are thankful for, and encouraging others to do the same. We can all use some positivity, and a reminder of our blessings.”

I definitely think we could all use some positivity and focus on gratitude. Instead of focusing on the negative, we can focus on God. What are you thankful for?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
