'Say I Won't' MercyMe Official Music Video

The MercyMe official music video for ‘Say I Won’t’ is so powerful!

Imagine waking up in a hospital with all of your limbs missing. One man by the name of Gary Miracle experienced this tragedy earlier this year. And the band MercyMe are turning his tragedy into triumph through their new release, ‘Say I Won’t’ in their new music video.

This music video is the message every hopeless person needs to witness and take in. The song highlights Gary’s journey which we can all relate to. He had been the bus driver for the band for more than 25 years when suddenly he came extremely ill. He then became septic and his body went into shock. He slipped into a coma only to wake up without any of his limbs.

After Gary began to recover and learn how to live life with prosthetics, Bart Millard, the lead singer of MercyMe knew he had to find a way to tell his friend’s story. He knew in light of the pandemic, the world needed to be given hope and inspiration. Even though the song is dedicated to Gary, the video also features TobyMac (music artist), Scott Hamilton (Olympic figure skater), Hugh Freeze (college football coach), Pat Riley (Miami Heat president) and Ben Roethlisberger (NFL player), each with their own life struggles and how they’re overcoming them through God’s grace and hope.

The song and music video reminds us that the hope we experience from our afflictions not centered on a particular outcome. Our hope comes from the Lord as we allow these situations to shape us more like Christ. These hard times and tragic moments have the ability to refine us unlike the seasons of life that go our way.

As 2020 draws to a close, may we all come out stronger, no matter the hardships we have endured. May we let these trails, hardships, and tribulations be a shining light for our mighty God who holds us in his hands. This is so incredibly inspiring.

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
(Romans 5:3-4)
