'Mary Did You Know' Cover From Men's Trio

Listen to this men’s trio cover the Christmas song ‘Mary Did You Know?’.

“Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you”

What beautiful music and soothing vocals! Not to mention the lovely harmonies! The video shows three men singing ‘Mary Did You Know?’ with the addition of a piano and acoustic guitar.

The men in the video are from a group called Mass Anthem, which is a cover band from Nashville, Tennessee. They have over 9,000 subscribers on their YouTube page, and they make tons of wonderful cover videos of popular Christian songs.

As for the lovely music, ‘Mary Did You Know?’ is a modern Christmas song created in the late 20th century. The lyrics were penned by Mark Lowry in 1984, and the music was composed by Buddy Greene in 1991. The lyrics in the song are asking Mary if she knew the eventual significance and salvation her son, Jesus Christ, would have for mankind and the miracles He would perform.

The idea for the song came to Mark Lowry while working on a Christmas Program in 1984. He recalled a conversation he had with his own mother about Jesus' birth where she said, "If anyone on earth knew for sure that Jesus was virgin born--Mary knew!"

Mark spent the next seven years tweaking his lyrics and thinking about what he would have asked Mary if he'd met her. Then in 1991, he asked a friend, Buddy Greene, to write music to accompany his lyrics. Buddy thought about what the music should be for about two weeks before the answer hit him. He sat down to write, and the music flowed. He finished in a mere 30 minutes!

What a wonderful song to listen to today as we think about the birth of Jesus!
