Beautiful A Cappella Version Of ‘Mary, Did You Know’

Listen to this beautiful a cappella version of ‘Mary, Did You Know’ performed by Peter Hollens.

“Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God”

Peter Hollens never fails to bring the chills. In this stunning a cappella rendition of 'Mary, Did You Know,' he is singing all the parts in a church and blends each part together to make one video. It sounds beautiful, and it is remarkable to see that he created such a full sound with just his voice!

Peter has been involved with a cappella music since 1999 when he co-founded the University of Oregon's a cappella group, On The Rocks. The group is known as the first official collegiate a cappella group in Oregon.

As for the classic song ‘Mary, Did You Know,’ it took over 7 years for Mark Lowry, the songwriter, to perfect the lyrics to the song. The song was finished in 1984. The idea came to Mark when he was writing a Christmas program, and he started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. He wondered how she must have felt when the angel told her she would birth a child of God. Then, he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we all know and love today.

Decades later, this song still resonates with hearts all over the world. And Peter Hollens does a great job putting his own spin on the song in this video. We hope that you enjoyed listening to his version of 'Mary, Did You Know' as you prepare for Christmas this season!
