'It's A Great Day To Be Alive' Home Free A Cappella Cover

A cappella group Home Free perform a cover of the Travis Tritt country hit ‘It’s A Great Day To Be Alive.’

Award-winning country artist Travis released the song in 2000. It quickly climbed the Billboard charts and became an instant classic.

Over the years, countless other artists have lent their voices to the tune, originally written by Darrell Scott. The lyrics of the slow ballad remind us to be grateful for the little blessings in life.

“And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shining
When I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good”

Today, the five talented men of Home Free are putting their own spin on this country hit. We first met this a cappella group when they competed on the fourth season of ‘The Sing Off.’ Home Free went on to win the entire competition and have since become a household name with their viral a cappella covers and original songs.

Their crooner voices are the perfect match for ‘It’s A Great Day To Be Alive.’

“Now I look in the mirror and what do I see
A lone wolf there staring back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord I guess he's doin' alright”

This performance from the Nashville Vineyard Church in Tennessee truly showcases the range and talent of this ensemble. And what a great reminder that the Lord has blessed us with another day on this Earth and we should be thankful for each moment.
