How to Hope: Lessons from the Israelites & Their Messianic Expectation, Pt 6 (Second Coming Chapel)

TEXT: Genesis 22:1-14

The sacrifice of Isaac is one of the most well-known episodes in Abraham's life. This man had left behind his family, all of his acquaintances, his religion, and his familiar environment to go to a strange land. Along the way, God told him that he, a 100-year-old man, and his wife, a 90-year-old woman, would have a child who would carry on the family lineage -- a key element in God's plan to make Abraham the father of a great nation. Yet, when Isaac comes of age, God comes to Abraham and says, "Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and offer him for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of."
