12-Year-Old Vocalist Overcomes Bullying To Earn Simon's Golden Buzzer - Staff Picks

In a powerful performance, a 12-year-old vocalist named Fayth Ifil shares how she overcame bullying and earned the golden buzzer from Simon during Britain’s Got Talent.

For her audition, Fayth sang Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary,’ and from her very first note, the audience and judges were impressed with her powerful and soulful voice.

“I left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping I was worrying 'bout the way the things might've been"

Before she started singing, Fayth told the judges how she had to overcome bullying and negative people from school but was able to get through it with the help of her mom and dad. And when Fayth was performing, it looked like she was able to gain her confidence back from being bullied and sang her little heart out on stage. She brought so much fun energy and had the whole audience up on their feet and dancing along to the song!

When she finished singing, the whole crowd started cheering “Press the gold!” over and over again.

“You know what I love about you Fayth is that I absolutely love your personality,” says Simon Cowell. “When you talked about the support that you had from your mum and dad, then you see the support that you have from 3,000 people, and just to give you a little bit more support, I’m going to give you one of those.”

He then proceeds to hit the golden buzzer! Fayth is in absolute shock as the gold confetti rains down, and she breaks down in tears. Simon heads up on stage to give Fayth a hug and confesses that he also dealt with bullying during his school years.

“When you’re as good as you are, you win,” he says. “If anyone ever says anything negative, you remember this moment.”
