Description: Abbas renews threat to take Palestinian statehood bid to UN. According to the Jerusalem Post, Palestinian officials have expressed disappointment with Netanyahu's response to Abbas's indictment of Israeli actions over the last 20 years. They called the response "vague" and said it did not include "clear answers" to Abbas's letter. The PA prime minister renewed his threat on Thursday to unilaterally seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state in response to Israel's refusal to accept his conditions for resuming talks. His threat was made during an interview published Thursday with the Lebanese daily An-Nah-har.
South Korea warns against another nuclear test from North Korea. According to UPI, South Korean officials said North Korea would face "grave consequences" if it attempted a third nuclear test. Foreign Ministry spokesman Sho Byung-jae said, "If North Korea goes ahead with a nuclear test, it will be a clear breach of the April 19 presidential statement by the U.N. Security Council and therefore the Security Council will have to take new actions." Yonhap News Agency reported officials believe the North is preparing to set off another nuclear device.
Christian activists are on trial in Vietnam. According to Asia News, four young Catholics have been charged with distributing anti-government leaflets in Vietnam. They face a sentence ranging from three to 20 years in prison. The young people were involved in social work,
