Steven Curtis Chapman - Christmas Time Again (Acoustic Performance)

One of the most recognizable figures in the Christian music scene, Steven Curtis Chapman, gives a terrific and inspired performance of his tune, “Christmas Time Again.”

Christmas is a season filled with traditions, gatherings and presents. Yes, all the holiday parties, annual gatherings and other obligations during the Christmas season can become a bit tiresome, often making for a less-than-enjoyable experience. But no matter those commitments and how busy the season may get, it is still Christmas. It’s the time of year to celebrate the Savior’s birth!

Steven Curtis Chapman sings a beautiful song, “Christmas Time Again,” that helps to put the focus back on the reason for the entire season. It’s because of God’s astounding and confounding love for us as sinners He sent his son into the world, born to a virgin in a lowly manger.

In the song, Steven ingeniously incorporates and mentions other classic and beloved Christmas songs in the lyrics. He sings of jingle bells, a little drummer boy and Mr. Cole’s “chestnut song.” He even mentions he is wishing and “dreaming” of a white Christmas.

In verses that follow, Steven also sings about traditions and dishes that are likely very familiar to many. He mentions grandma’s pumpkin pie and “her world-famous casserole.” The Christian music artist sings about the children playing games and hoping to kiss his significant other under the mistletoe.

But again, while those other Christmas songs, dishes and traditions are fantastic and loved by many, Steven, in the track’s chorus, sings about the need to thank God for His love, for sending his Son to Earth.

“Time to gather with family and your friends
And thank God for His gift of love
We’re gonna thank God for His gift of love
This Christmas”

Christmas is a joyous occasion and one of the best times of the year. But it’s not because of any gift or a favorite dish, but because of God showing His mercy and grace on us by sending His Son to Earth.

Luke 2:7 “And she had her first son; and folding him in linen, she put him to rest in the place where the cattle had their food, because there was no room for them in the house.”
