Description: 1. According to The Jerusalem Post, a senior Israeli official told Israel Radio on Tuesday morning that Israel is capable of carrying out a unilateral military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities without operational support from the United States.

According to Reuters, Syrian President Bashar Assad said crushing "terrorists" must come before any political solution to end the crisis in his country, dimming hopes of an international peace conference any time soon.
