The Christ of Christmas - CXI

I was inspired to write this song by seeing the typical commercialism that takes over this celebration of Christ's birth. We were never instructed by God in His Word to do so, but a Christian nation was led to have this "Holy day" set aside to reflect on the great gift of Jesus. Now, as in the Bible, "My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves." Food, Fun, and Fellowship are no sin, but look what we've done to what must now be called X-Mas with a Holiday tree. Bratty children scream for the latest toy, shoppers crush each other to get the latest deal. All the while - not far off, in the quiet squaller of a lowly stable, the King of Kings is born. Jesus is the Christ of Christmas born to give us the gift of life, on His birthday. (lulu.com/izrimedia)
