Benedictine Nuns-Le Barroux

Benedictine Nuns-Le Barroux

The community of Benedictine nuns of Our Lady of the Annunciation is born 1979. Four young girls were gathered around Mother Elizabeth and, following Dom Gérard, wanted to also "experience the Churches tradition." After moving to different locations, they can turn to find common ground near the town of Le Barroux in 1983.

Today, the Community consists of more than 40 nuns.
After the first stage of work, installation, even though precarious, is possible in 1987. The monastery is recognized canonically by the Holy See in 1989 and erected into an abbey in 1992.
Mother Elizabeth receives Abbatial the blessing of the hands of Cardinal Mayer. She carries out the end of construction, especially the Church, which was consecrated on 12 May 2005 by Cardinal Medina, who came as Special Envoy of Pope Benedict XVI.
