This section of Psalm was one of the most difficult to write a tune to for some reason, so when a version without a chorus (any repeating lines) fell into place I left it that way, even though that made it one of the shortest sections. Now it is one of my favorites especially following Kaph, also one of my favorites, but which is so full of despair in one's condition or circumstances. Lamedh focuses on the unchangable, permanent nature of God. His faithfulness. His enduring Word. In a possible reference to the despair of Kaph, it says here that --if Your Law had not been my delight, I would have PERISHED in my affliction.-- But then this section credits the precepts of God as the source of His life. As Jesus said --You search the Scriptures, for you think that in THEM you have eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify of ME, yet you refuse to COME to Me to have life.-- I see Jesus in all of Psalm 119. The Words are practically unutterable without putting Him, THE Lawkeeper, at it's center. But when He is there, where He belongs, it truly becomes a delight, as this little section so sweetly expresses.
