Mural on Leon Street
Here is the finished mural on Leon Street, Kelowna B. C. I've never done anything that has received such a positive response. During the 5 weeks I was painting, people walking by would shout out encouraging phrases. People who visited this area often, would sit and make suggestions as to what could be added. Their thoughts were lifted beyond a grey concrete wall to the places only their imaginations could visit.I slowly learned the names of those who lived in this area, Billie, Bruce, Fred...some shared their stories. I think I am a richer man for their input into my life. Staff who worked on the block would have their breaks there and we would chat about life and stuff. Besides my small part, many other volunteers have slaved away and are still working there to make the gardens "flower-full". They water and weed and replant and while doing so share the lives of all who come close by. Everyone's life is better because of their love as represented by their work. . My hope is that this video might inspire another group... in another city... to tackle their inner-city grayness and fill it with color, flowers, art and love. Graham
