Modern culture is becoming shaped more and more by advertising. Using the sciences of anthopology, sociology, and psychology, the modern advertiser is able to subtly shape American values and beliefs, without significant discussion of either its methods or message. Your evening news, situation comedy, and even political candidates, are conditioned by advertising. The apostle John warned the church of the coming propagand for a humanistic worldview, expressed by modern governments and religions.
