17-Year-Old Wins Spot on American Idol with Original Song
This 17-year-old wins a spot on American Idol with an original song, and it’s easy to see why. The teenager is full of good old country talent. He sings and plays like he’s got decades of experience. Watch the video to see it for yourself.
When 17-year-old Lucas Leon walked up to audition for American Idol 2026, he immediately captured the judges' attention with his “baby face” and unique voice. Before he even started singing, Judge Luke Bryan pulled out his phone to show him a picture of his own son, Bo, who looks just like him.
The 17-Year-Old On American Idol Shared His Own Song
After a little chitchat about fishing, he jumped into his original, “Fall in Love Someday.” Lucas has a deep, gritty twang, and his song hints at experiences that it’s hard to imagine a 17-year-old has had, but it certainly sounds great. The lyrics have a way of swinging into each other that makes you want to never stop listening. Some of the lyrics are:
I just wonder what’s the cost if you’d ever know
cause I’m a young gun in an old 4runner rolling the coast
I’m tumbling down Route 66 sitting with her ghost
So roll me to Arizona, Texas or Mexico
Lucas wrote the song with songwriters Kaleb Thomas Jones and Smith Curry.
“Pure. Honest. And very talented,” Lionel Richie told him after he was done performing.
“Thank you for bringing your butt down here to us,” Luke Bryan joked. “It’s a big ole yes from me!”
“We’re all standing,” judge Carrie Underwood said. “It’s like your baby face and you’re adorable. But there’s this odd, awesome maturity. I feel like you could go pretty far in this competition.”
And just like that, Lucas got his ticket to Hollywood Week in American Idol 2026. Hopefully, he will go far in the competition. He’s off to a great start!
