Awe-Inspiring Duet Cover of ‘You Are the Sunshine of My Life’

UK Street performers Leire and Atticus Blue amaze in their newest cover. Their awe-inspiring duet cover of “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” has passersby captivated. Give it a listen to fall into the sweet melody.

The two singers sound marvelous together. They have got tons of style and personality, and you can hear their passion for the song in their voices. They bring a little bit of majesty and magic to their cobblestoned street.

They completely make the Stevie Wonder classic their own, as well. They’ve got a knack for drawing people in.

Lyrics to “You Are the Sunshine of My Life”:

Ohh, you are the sunshine of my life, yeah
That's why I'll always stay around – mm-mmm, yeah-yeah
You are the apple of my eye (Love has joined us...)
Forever, you'll stay in my heart (Let's love sweet love)

The 1973 song was Stevie’s third No.1 hit in the US. It also won Stevie the 1973 Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

He wrote the song about his wife, Syreeta Wright. It was impromptu, and once he and his band joined in, Stevie said they would record it that day. He knew from the start it was special.

Leire and Atticus are smart to sing the song together, as it is an incredibly romantic song that people associate with love and couples. Their voices blend effortlessly when they harmonize. Leire’s strength and depth perfectly balance Atticus’ light and weavy voice.

Strangers stop in their tracks to see and hear them perform, and I would too. There’s a palpable intimacy in their performance that invites people in. It’s intriguing.

Once you hear them together, it turns a common moment into something memorable, and there’s a kind of power in that. It is practically unforgettable.
