Many Mothers Will Relate to This Laugh-Out-Loud SNL Christmas Skit

Many mothers will likely be able to relate to this laugh-out-loud Saturday Night Live Christmas skit. The long-running sketch comedy show hit the nail on the head with this Christmas-themed skit, and moms everywhere are sure to agree. Watch the short but hysterical clip to see why mothers are likely to be nodding their heads in total agreement with this SNL skit.

Christmas is, as many beloved and uber catchy songs state, the most wonderful time of the entire year. It’s the season filled with annual traditions, when memories are made as friends and family gather together to celebrate, recognize and honor the birth of Jesus Christ. There is also usually an endless supply of mouth-watering treats and dishes. Diets typically do not stand a chance during the Christmas season.

Additionally, during those Christmas celebrations, gifts are often exchanged. And who doesn’t enjoy opening up gifts specifically purchased for them? Yes, as Jesus said, it is better to give than to receive, but there is still a lot of fun and enjoyment that comes from receiving a gift. You know who else enjoys opening up gifts on Christmas? Mothers. Sadly, though, it often feels like moms are the ones buying for everyone else, and then they receive basic or very functional and boring presents.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a skit featuring Kristen Wiig aptly captures this sad but true fact about Christmas gifts. The entire family sings a catchy but cheesy tune about the things they’ve received. Dad, the two children and even the family’s adorable pup are treated like royalty, opening up some truly extravagant gifts. When it comes to mom, her present isn’t exactly the greatest, especially when considering the things everyone else has opened.

While the entire skit and song are hysterical, without a doubt, the most gut-bustlingly funny part of the whole clip is Mom’s mention of her stocking and how she burned her hand in the oven, but refuses to react to it. Instead, she suppresses her feelings and keeps everything inside.

Job 8:21 “The time will come when your mouth will be full of laughing, and cries of joy will come from your lips.”
