Lucy and Martha Thomas Stunning Rendition of ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’

Lucy and Martha Thomas' stunning rendition of ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ is bound to leave you impressed. The sisters sound remarkable as they harmonize. Play the video to hear them.

These sisters from the U.K. are absolutely charming. The song almost sounds like it was made for them to sing. Adding to the charm is a moment when their family dog interrupts them for some pets. They both display skilled vibrato and tremendous talent. Their slow cover of the song from “The Lion King” gives added beauty to its lyrics:

When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight? (Tonight)

It’s remarkable to hear that neither sister ever strains their voice and perfectly hits every note. They weave a lot of emotion into every note. They turn the classic song into a beautiful moment.

This song was written in 1994 by Elton John and won the 1995 Academy Award for Best Original Song. The renowned love song almost didn’t make it into the famous animated movie The Lion King.

The Disney team had told Elton, “‘Well, we just couldn’t find a place for it.’” Elton said, “It’s a love song. Every Disney animation film has a great love song. You really ought to reconsider this.’ I was quite astonished that it wasn’t there, and to Disney’s credit, they went back and found a place for it, and it won the Oscar.”

It’s a good thing Disney kept the song in the movie because many people love it today. Hearing the Thomas sisters sing it is perhaps even better than the movie’s version. The cover is lovely and lingering, and certainly sure to leave you feeling “the love tonight!”
