Everyone has dreams and aspirations, things that they hope to one day achieve. So, if and when someone, through much diligence, perseverance and intensely focused hard work, achieves their dreams, what happens next? Likely, many do not think about that part. Perhaps, believing that they will become instantly and forever happy, with all of life’s worries, concerns and heartaches avoiding them forever.

Of course, that’s not the case at all. Regardless of what people do for a living, there is still pain, heartache and suffering in this fallen world, impacting all of us, no matter our status or profession. That pain and hurt will come for us even when we’re at the top of the musical world, as we see in “I Can Only Imagine 2.”

As the film’s trailer shows, after MercyMe received widespread fame and attention following their massive hit “I Can Only Imagine,” the band’s lead singer, Bart Millard, faces a family crisis involving his youngest son’s medical diagnosis. This, as described on IMDB, causes Bart to confront “struggles with his beliefs and inner demons while seeking a path through adversity.”

As all of this is going on, the trailer shows that Bart is dealing with a bout of writer’s block. It’s not enough to come up with one hit song; now people are demanding more and more songs that will match or even top the success of “I Can Only Imagine.”

Rated PG for “thematic material and some language,” “I Can Only Imagine 2” opens in theaters on Feb. 20. Also, the film features an all-star cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Milo Ventimiglia and Anjelah Johnson-Reyes.
