Yes, in a marriage, there will be good, happy and prosperous times, which are causes and occasions for celebration. However, there will also be times that are not so rosy. Fights and disagreements are bound to happen. A marriage is a relationship between two flawed people with different thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics. Universal agreement on everything, even with one’s spouse, is not possible. That’s why there must be compromise and other actions that can contribute to a happy, long-lasting marriage.
In a clip posted on YouTube, one man shared one of the things he’s learned that goes a long way toward keeping the peace and making for a happy marriage. As the video shows, not only does he give advice, but he follows it.
“You want a happy marriage, you’ve always got to be joking with your spouse,” he said. “We’re getting ready for church, and she can’t figure out what she wants to wear. So, watch this: ‘Hey, babe, you know, you could have avoided all of this if you’d just laid out your outfit last night.’”
His delivery makes it seem as if he may not be entirely joking. It’s clear from her response that his wife did not take his unsolicited advice as a joke.
“I had it in my head, and now I’ve had to change it three times,” she said. “I don’t need a lecture this morning. Thank you so much.”
