John Crist Shares Powerful Words on Self Control, Trusting God and Letting Go

John Crist shared powerful words on self control, trusting God and letting go. The popular funnyman will have you nodding along in total agreement with the biblical truths and points he raises. Watch the short but insightful clip to hear what John said about not worrying about this and that and instead trusting God.

While there is little agreement on many issues today, we can all agree that we live in a fallen and lost place. When it comes to that topic, no debate is necessary. Every day, everywhere we go and look, we are inundated with evidence. There is so much wrong with our sin-filled, imperfect and downright broken world.

The insane, chaotic and disorderly nature of our world is enough to drive the sanest person crazy. More often than not, attempting to change this or that is a losing battle. That’s why it’s important not to worry about those outside forces over which we have little or no control. Obsessing over this and that is a recipe for disaster and a mental breakdown.

In a clip posted on YouTube, John mentioned what the Bible says about this situation and how we are to respond and act. His words and message are ones we would all be much better off remembering, particularly in times of intense stress and worry.

“I was watching a clip, and it was like, the only control God told you to have was self-control,” he said.

Later in the clip, he recited the fruits of the Spirit and mentioned things we should not worry about controlling because it’s a totally fruitless and worthless endeavor; instead, we should focus on controlling ourselves and our words and actions.

“Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control,” he said. “Not other control. Not control of your business. Not control of your family, hopefully. Not control of your neighborhood, HOA. Self. The one you got is self.”

Those are compelling and insightful words about letting go of what we don’t have control over, and giving it to God, and allowing him to work in that situation.

Proverbs 25:28 “He whose spirit is uncontrolled is like an unwalled town which has been broken into.”
