Watch the short, but inspiring and uplifting clip to hear from Michael Todd and learn about the upcoming film “Relationship Goals.”
Relationships, especially romantic ones, are not easy and can often be challenging to navigate. Most people do not seek to intentionally hurt others, but romantic relationships do end, and when they do, it can sting and be quite painful. That hurt can be so bad that it may even cause people to shy away from romantic relationships altogether.
“Relationship Goals,” a new movie from Amazon, examines romantic relationships and the feelings, emotions, as well as all the ups and downs that come with them. The film, which begins streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime on Feb 4, features a star-studded cast that includes Kelly Rowland, Method Man, Dennis Haysbert and Matt Walsh.
Ahead of the film’s release date, Michael Todd, the author of the book “Relationship Goals,” sat down to talk about his book and the movie. In the opening moments of the interview, Michael revealed the inspiration for his best-selling book, stating that it was divinely inspired.
“Well, the beautiful part about this is, is this was an original idea that I felt like I got from God,” he said. “Like, I wrote down that this was going to be a movie before Devon called me, before I had even an option or from Amazon. I wrote it down because I believed really strongly in vision that if you can see it before you see it, great things can happen.”
For any movie or book to exist, there must be a purpose or a goal behind it. Michael shared what he hopes people take away from the film “Relationship Goals.”
“Progression,” he said. “Progression, not perfection. Like, I hope this movie allows people to see a mirror of themselves in some way. It’s a little easier to see it in somebody else’s life, but maybe if you’re in a place where you’re in a relationship that it’s not going anywhere, and there’s no commitment, maybe you’ll see there’s something else you need to do.”
Michael’s book being turned into a movie was something that he had thought of and dreamed of all along, before anyone else saw it. He ended the interview with some insightful, encouraging and uplifting advice for those seeking to do big things themselves, even when others may not see it or think it’s possible.
“It’s only crazy until it happens,” he added. “So, I just want people to be encouraged. Like, go after that thing that you see that nobody believes in yet, because it’s possible. And I always say, ‘It's only crazy until it happens.’”
“Relationship Goals” is rated PG-13 for some suggestive material and language.
Genesis 2:18 “And the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be by himself: I will make one like himself as a help to him.’”
