Massive Alligators Caught Trying to Enter Florida Homes

For folks in the Midwest, spring is when snakes start slithering around, laying eggs, and sunning themselves, but in Florida, massive alligators are caught trying to enter the homes of humans! There are lots of reasons why Florida appeals to people as a vacation and/or retirement destination. The beach, sun, and coastal vibe are hard to ignore. However, a massive, scaly gator at your door is as well!

WSVN-TV, Channel 7 in Florida, reported on three such scary incidents!

The first, shared with the news outlet, happened at the Tampa home of Courtney Beck and her parents. The family got an unexpected wake-up call when they heard their dogs barking and an odd scratching at the front door. Concerned there might be a burglar trying to break in, Courtney instead saw, through the door glass, that there was a different type of frightening would-be intruder. A toothy alligator was trying to get in!

Another incident was captured on video last month when a nearly 8-foot-long alligator tried to invade the home of an Orlando family! The homeowner called a trapper, and, eventually, the reptile made its way through the backyard and back into the water.

And, yet another alligator tried to invade a home in Fort Myers recently. This time deputies were called and secured the beast before handing it over to a trapper. Thankfully, none of these close encounters resulted in injuries, but they demonstrate why a doorbell camera is more of a necessity than a luxury in Florida!

Doorbell cameras in the Midwest are about 1000 times more likely to catch kids ding-dong ditching at their doors than giant, scaly paws scaling up them!

Alas, every part of this beautiful country has something to offer as well as hazards to be aware of. Apparently, it’s just a matter of picking your preference. A change of seasons versus year-round sun, lakes versus oceans, and snakes versus gators. What a wonderful world it is!
