Coldplay Tune Gets a Family Twist as Young Man and Mom Light Up the AGT Stage
You’ll be wowed by how a classic Coldplay tune gets a family twist as a young man and his mom light up the AGT stage. 23-year-old Cole Swenson and his mom, Judy, took the stage by storm with their ‘Viva La Vida’ performance. Watch the clip to see the wonderful pair play.
“Well, A large reason of why I pursue music is because of my mom,” Cole bravely said after ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge Simon Cowell urged him to start singing. “She gave up her career and her dream of music, and I’m able to take her place. So, she’s going to be here playing with me.”
Cole brought his mom, Judy, onto the stage, who was carrying a cello. The pair slowly launched into “Viva La Vida” with Cole singing and playing guitar. As Cole sang with his distinct, strong voice, his mom played cello and looked toward her son with admiration.
The crowd absolutely adored the duo. At one point in the video, the audience roars so loudly that you can’t hear Cole and his mom’s music for a brief moment. The judges were also highly impressed.
“To see love emulated on the stage like that… my heart is just exploding,” judge Howie Mendel said. “It was beautiful!”
Simon teased Cole, “I think this would have been a really good audition on your own.” After the crowd booed, Simon followed his statement with, “...However, with your mum, it was a great audition.”
After four yeses from the judges, Cole and Judy jumped with joy and turned to embrace each other.
Cole’s dad is also a professional musician—a violinist. Last year, he had major heart surgery, and Cole wanted to make a song with him in which his dad could express emotion through his violin. Cole is currently working on the release of that song, ‘Our Eternity.’
How amazing is it that a kid like Cole would want to incorporate his parents into his passion? Instead of going his own way, he makes an effort to include them in the journey.
How blessed they are!
“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” Exodus 20:12
