Tim Conway’s on-air announcement quickly spirals into comedic chaos. The comedy legend once again demonstrated why he is often considered one of the funniest people ever to have graced the television screen in a skit from The Carol Burnett Show. Watch the short but gut-bustlingly funny clip to see Tim address the public with faulty equipment.
We’re all likely more than familiar with Murphy’s Law. It’s the belief that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Of course, that’s a very pessimistic outlook, and no way to go through life, but we’ve all felt that way at one time or another. We may have been right, or we could have just had a negative attitude and were actively looking for anything wrong to confirm our preconceived notions.
Whether you’re a pessimist or an optimist, not everything in life will go your way (big surprise, I know!). Sometimes, we have to make the best of a bad situation, even if the present circumstances are downright awful. In a clip posted on YouTube, making the best of a bad situation is precisely what Tim did while playing a company’s president attempting to make a televised announcement.
With Tim sitting at his desk, things get off on the right foot, at least momentarily. Seconds into his address, we can only hear about every third word out of his mouth. The microphone is failing at the worst possible time. But have no fear - someone stepped in to lend a helping hand.
All should be fixed, right? Not in the slightest. Things go from bad to worse or funny to hysterical.
The person assisting with Tim’s faulty equipment problem somehow only makes things much worse. At one point, the man manages to staple Tim’s hand to his chest, resulting in a pained reaction from Tim.
It is truly amazing how Tim got through that skit without breaking character. He didn’t even smile once, but with all of that going on, he soldiered on, as if it wasn’t happening at all.
Proverbs 17:22 “A glad heart makes a healthy body, but a crushed spirit makes the bones dry.”
