Hiker’s Frightening Run-In With Wild Animal Caught on Camera

One hiker's frightening run-in with a wild animal was caught on camera. The woman was out getting some exercise and fresh air when a large creature came across her path, scaring her to death. Watch the short but jaw-dropping video to see the unbelievable moment.

Animals are, without a doubt, some of the best creatures on Earth. They are loving, loyal and dependable to a fault. They often become our best and closest friends, quickly becoming members of the family. Given how great these beings are, how can anyone not be an animal lover?

However, while most people adore and appreciate those cute, furry, four-legged critters, we all know there are some we just can't or shouldn't approach. For instance, avoiding lions, tigers, bears and other similar animals is always a good rule of thumb. But what about when they approach you? What should you do then? That was precisely the situation that happened to one woman hiking in California.

In the video posted on YouTube, the woman is walking along a trail when a mountain lion turns the corner and starts to slowly approach her. While adrenaline had to be coursing through her body, the woman did not do what had to have been her first instinct and run. Instead, she can be heard continually shouting "no" as the massive cat gets closer and closer to her.

Then, after taking several steps toward her, something unexpected happens. The cat shifts its attention away from her and makes its way up the mountain, covering an astonishing amount of ground as it does so. In two or three moves, the cat is now 10 or 15 feet up the large hill.

Despite the scary encounter, the clip states that the woman returned to the same trail the next day. If that had happened to me, you'd never see me on that trail again. There must be other trails where she lives with fewer mountain lions.
