“‘Emmanuel’ was one of the first songs I wrote as a new Christian back in 1989. I’ve always had a deep fondness for it, and it later became one of the standout pieces in The Musical KEY, which I wrote a few years afterwards. The song centres on the story of Christ: ‘Unto us a child is born’—in a manger—and ‘unto us a Son is given’—on the cross. Emanuel: God with us. Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
