Emotional ‘Out of My Mind’ Trailer Will Leave You Reaching for Tissues

The emotional new trailer for the film “Out of My Mind” will have you reaching for the tissues.

Sadly, life is often not very fair. Most people would say that life is rarely, if ever, a just experience. That small share of people who would disagree and say otherwise are either severely mistaken or insane, but likely it’s probably a little bit of both.

No one’s life is 100% the same. We are all given a certain set of cards, or circumstances, to play. Everyone has problems in life, but we all know people who seem to be given more than their fair share. Also, some people are, sadly, born with or later develop mental or physical disabilities that make life a struggle.

The upcoming Disney+ film Out of My Mind, based on the best-selling novel of the same name, is about a young woman, Melody Brooks, who was born with cerebral palsy. Because of her condition, Melody uses a wheelchair and is unable to speak.

However, despite her condition, Melody is a bright young woman who “loves to learn.” In the short trailer, Melody’s parents learn of a new program that is working to integrate children with disabilities into the regular classrooms with the other students.

The panic and worried looks on Melody’s parents' faces suggest they are hesitant. They are unsure if this is the right move for their daughter. Of course, one of their worries has to be how the other students will respond to and treat Melody.

As expected, the students do not initially respond with kindness and love to Melody. One girl in the class calls attention to Melody, saying, “She’s from the special room.”

But despite this initial hurt and pain, the clip shows that Melody doesn’t let that keep her down. She perseveres and even manages to qualify for her school’s quiz team.

Be sure to have tissues nearby because this film will surely send tears streaming down your face. “Out of My Mind” will premiere on Disney+ on Nov. 22.

A Prayer for Peace during Health Challenges - Your Daily Prayer - November 7

We know that God is a God who heals. However, we also know that He does not heal everyone. Some people experience miraculous healing, and others pass on too young. We don’t understand this side of heaven, but we can still trust that God is in control, that God sees us, and that He is always with us.
